The Tanneron mountain, on the west of Cannes is one of the last place in France where mimosa is still grown in a large scale. This « sunshine yellow flower » was brought over to The French Riviera by english Lords to decorate their gardens in the 19th century.

Still nowadays, Cannes is the French mimosa’s capital. After departure from Mandelieu La Napoule the coach takes the road D23 to the village of Tanneron. On the way, we can enjoy the delightful sight of the mimosa trees, weighting down under flowers, the panoramas of the bay of Cannes, the Lerins Islands and around us, mimosa and eucalyptus are growing. We pass close to the writer Martin Gray’s house.

One hour stop to visit a «  forcerie » close to the village. The mimosa expert explains how the flowering is controlled in a warm and humid room to force the mimosa to mature earlier.

48 hours in the room are equivalent to 3 weeks on the tree.

Free time to purchase the beautiful mimosa flowers and maybe local products.

Then 30 minutes photo stop in the village.

Return to Mandelieu via a different road as enchanting as the first one, with views of the perfume city of Grasse.
